Memorializing the life of Chris Gray, former West Virginia
University student and athlete, who was killed on September
11, 2001, during the terrorist attack on the World Trade
Center.

Whereas, Chris Gray was the son of Jim and Janet Gray of New
Jersey. He was the brother of Jay and Tim Gray and the fiancé of
Kelly Gangwer of Morgantown, West Virginia, whom he was to marry on
May 18, 2002; and

Whereas, Chris Gray was a quarterback for the West Virginia
University Mountaineer football team and was a team member during
the 1988 Fiesta Bowl and the 1992 Gator Bowl; and

Whereas, Chris Gray's successful football career at West
Virginia University earned him a free agent signing with the Miami
Dolphins; and

Whereas, Chris Gray graduated from West Virginia University in
1994 with a Master's degree in Education; and

Whereas, Chris Gray's contagious smile and incessant humor
made him an instant friend to all who knew him; and

Whereas, On September 11, 2001, Chris Gray was working on the
105th floor of the World Trade Center for the investment firm of
Cantor Fitzgerald when the terrible events occurred that changed
America and the lives of Chris Gray's family forever; and

Whereas, The death of Chris Gray, who was tragically killed
during the terrible events of September 11, 2001, should not be
forgotten; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby memorializes the life of Chris Gray,
former West Virginia University student and athlete who was killed
on September 11, 2001, in the terrorist attack on the World Trade
Center; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby expresses its
heartfelt sympathy at the death of Chris Gray, along with our
prayers that the events which took his young life will not be
repeated; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the parents, brothers and fiancé of
Chris Gray.
